Mad Dog Ski: Ski Resort guidebooks for Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland

St Anton - Austria

Many people see St Anton as one of the best ski resorts in the world. Internationally renowned as a winter sports destination since the 1920s, and famous as the homeland of ski pioneer Hannes Schneider, St Anton is a well-established mecca for those who love to both ski and party.

St Anton

December and January are the coldest months with deep blue skies and strong winter sun amongst days of snowfall. February and March, whilst warmer, usually continue to provide great snow conditions, as the north-facing slopes keep their base intact for the season. Sunnier south-facing slopes are kept in perfect shape by snowmaking.

So far as visitors go, St Anton is not as saturated as France with British guests; it has a cosmopolitan mix of Germans, Austrians, Dutch, British, Scandinavians and North Americans. This gives a great international feel to the town, although English is spoken in pretty much all of the hotels, bars and restaurants around the resort.
