The variety of things to do off the slopes is surprisingly limited in St Anton. Maybe it's because so many people are concentrating on the legendary
apres-ski. However, we’ve come up with our favourite things to do once you’ve hung up your jackets and kicked off your boots.
Five to try
- Head for a sauna or hot tub in the Well.com centre to relax your muscles
- Hit some of the great walking trails around the Arlberg
- Pop into the skiing museum and learn about the history of St Anton and skiing
- Go down the slopes on your backside – tobogganing that is
- Take a ride on a horse and carriage, admiring the town and feeling like royalty
Shopping
- Browse the Bucher-Schreibwaren-Foto-Spiele bookshop for a good selection of specialist skiing and snowboarding books - many of them in English
- Grab a picnic from the Alberger Dorfbackerie bakery - as well as good sandwiches, it is also a friendly place to grab a hot chocolate
- If you're feeling nippy, drop into The North Face shop and load up on some of the warmest and techincal clothes around
- For ski or board hire from an efficient and friendly shop, try Alber Sport
- Snowboarders should visit Surfer's Paradise for a good selection of of clothing and accessories as well as hire
