Planning your trip - Whistler - Canada

Vancouver International Airport (yvr.ca) is the closest gateway airport to the resort with direct flights from UK, via British Airways and Air Canada. Flight time is around 10 hours and another 2 hours by car to Whistler. The upgrades to the highway for the 2010 Olympics promise to shorten this journey however the Sea to Sky Highway has to be one of the most scenic drives in the world.

Private transfer is the most convenient option to take you directly to your accommodation, offered by companies such as Whistler Blackcomb Transfer, especially as you don't need a car in resort. If you do decide to rent make sure to ask for either four-wheel drive or snow chains. This is particularly important for the road between Squamish and Whistler which is often only passable by 4x4 vehicles or those fitted with chains; this is enforced by the police and in severe weather the road may even be closed. Remember to drive on the right and check with your accommodation that they will provide parking. Coach transfer is a cheaper option, try Greyhound or Perimeter. Once in resort you can then take a taxi or walk to your accommodation.
