Cross Paris to Gare du Lyon and travel to Annecy which is 30km from the resort and reached by a regular bus service to the coach station in Le Grand Bornand, or travel by TGV in 4 hours to Geneva Airport and take a transfer to Le Grand Bornand.
Transfers
Bus transfers are the most economical way to travel to resort from the airport or train station. If possible, try to book your tickets well in advance - the buses can get very busy and some companies act on a reservation-only basis.
If you hire a car from Geneva, simply head towards Chamonix/ Mont Blanc on the A41 and exit at Junction 16 for Bonneville. Drive through St Pierre en Faucigny following the signs for Le Grand Bornand and head up the mountains, through Saxias, Le Petit Bornand and Entremont. You will come to a T-junction where you turn left for Le Grand Bornand (turn right and you will reach La Clusaz). From here you will be in Le Grand Bornand in 5 minutes. If you are heading up to Le Chinaillon turn left at the first round about you reach and carry on up the mountain for a further eight km. There are plenty of sharp corners (be aware you are required by law to carry snow chains).
For door-to-door, taxis are a good option, although not the cheapest.
Self-drive
Driving to Le Grand Bornand will take you about 10 hours once you reach Calais or Boulogne. The motorways are the quickest route but you will have to pay around €50 in toll charges each way. If you are driving down on a Saturday, beware that the roads will be very busy with all the traffic heading to the ski resorts in this part of the Alps.
