With Les P'tits Montagnards award from the French government, which recognises the excellence of childcare in Les Deux Alpes, this makes it a great destination for families with young children. Children as young as six months can be looked after, and Espace Luge is a play area in the snow for children.

4 View allLes Deux Alpes is really well equipped to keep your kids entertained outside of ski school. On the glacier a visit to the Ice Grotto with its dinosaur sculptures, followed by a trip around the glacier on a piste basher is an affordable way to make them feel extremely special. You can buy tickets in advance in the office in Places Des Deux Alpes, where you buy the lift passes.
In the evenings there are a couple of bowling alleys in the resort and the Dodgems on Ice will give them some great stories and photos to take back to school. The swimming pool and ice rink are old favourites and have the added bonus of being free with a 6-day ski pass.
Where to stay
Hotel Melezes is a 3-star hotel in a classic style. The foyer of this hotel opens into a bar with large sofas and a traditional fireplace, with a very homely feel and is very child-friendly and safe.
2 Alpes Voyages has the largest selection of apartments, based in the centre of the village. Self-catering can be the easier option if you have kids.
Top ski school tips
- Children generally can start skiing from around four years old (older for snowboarding)
- Young children, or those new to skiing, may only manage half a day - it can be very tiring when they're not used to it
- Plenty of high factor suncream is essential - factor 30+ and water resistant
- Younger eyes are more sensitive so it is important to make kids wear good quality sunglasses or goggles all the time. If you only plan to buy one or the other, buy goggles.
- If possible, book with an instructor who speaks good English so your child can understand the instructions and if there's a problem, they can understand it
