With such a short transfer time from Geneva it is no surprise that Morzine is popular with families and the town has a wealth of facilities for children of all ages. Whilst the
beginner slopes are ideal for children there is so much more to do than skiing, and the tourist office will be able to advise as to what events are taking place during each week of the season. It is not unusual to find sledging competitions, face-painting, treasure hunts, and ‘Punch and Judy’ style shows. Alternatively, the permanent attractions such as the ice-rink and horse and carriage tours will keep the little ones amused for hours. The biggest thing that Morzine lacks for children is a public swimming pool, the closest one being in Thonon (a 30 minute drive), but many hotels have private heated pools for their guests.

Top ski school tips
- Children generally can start skiing from around four years old (older for snowboarding)
- Young children, or those new to skiing, may only manage half a day - it can be very tiring when they're not used to it
- Plenty of high factor suncream is essential - factor 30+ and water resistant
- Younger eyes are more sensitive so it is important to make kids wear good quality sunglasses or goggles all the time. If you only plan to buy one or the other, buy goggles
- If possible, book with an instructor who speaks good English so your child can understand the instructions and if there's a problem, they can understand it
