There are over 140kms of groomed pistes, but the great advantage of the Saas Valley is that there is guaranteed snow, and even summer skiing due to its high altitude, with pistes up to 3600m above sea-level, and of course the massive, dramatic glacier keeping everything nice and cold...Saas Fee has slopes catering to all levels. Firstly, the learner slopes are gentle and quite extensive with three drag lifts, and wide open blues, (equivalent to the French greens). The colour coding here varies a lot compared to other countries. There are no greens, only blues, reds and blacks.
The slopes are split into three main sections, Platijen, Felskinn and Langfluh.
Beginners:
The "Sandiger Boden" piste is ideal terrain for learning how to make your first turns – good before progressing to the gentle blues on Felskinn, just above Morenia.
Intermediates:
At the top of Allalin, down as far as Langfluh in one direction and as far as Morenia in the other is ideal for intermediates.
Advanced:
The blacks and the trees on Plattjen are worth exploring, and the slopes around the top of Langfluh often provide good powder.
Off-piste:
The glacier puts limits on the local off-piste, even with a guide, but there are extensive touring possibilities.
