Mad Dog Ski: Ski Resort guidebooks for Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland

Food and drink - Wengen - Switzerland

Restaurants and bars in Wengen cater for a wide selection of tastes from burger and chips and Swiss specialities (such as fondue) to five course gourmet menus in larger restaurants and hotels. The standard of food in the resort is excellent - even at the lower end of the price range - and they are all able to cater for families, couples or small groups. You will not have a problem finding a menu to suit everyone.

Apres-ski can vary from small bars, wigwams and hotel lounges to large bars with a younger crowd. There is something here for everyone. Apres-ski really takes off during Christmas and New Year, the Lauberhorn race weekend and during February.

Five to try

Hotel Caprice:
A selection of good quality wines as well as food to suite all palettes.

Sina's pub and pizzaria:
Cheap and cheerful pizzeria with good vegetarian options and great for kids.

Brandegg:
A popular restaurant at the bottom of the blue run 22 and 24 and also the Eiger run toboggan track.

Crystal bar
One of the most popular bars in town as it is situated on the main street almost opposite the Mannlichen cable car.

Sunstar Bar
:
Very good value-for-money drinks with stools around the bar and a nice lounge area to sit.

Our penny’s worth

There are some really fantastic restaurants in Wengen but for the extra special something, visit the Caprice Hotel. There is a small dining area with the chefs on show as you walk through the main entrance offering a good selection quality food and wine to suite all palates. The restaurant backs onto a huge sun terrace with spectacular views of the Jungfrau.
