Mad Dog Ski: Ski Resort guidebooks for Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland

Where to stay - Wengen - Switzerland

There are a lot of beautiful old hotels and family orientated chalets around Wengen. Wengen also has a wide variety of accommodation available ranging from top end hotels to backpackers lodges.

Most of the hotel accommodation is based in the main village above the railway station. There is little by way of ski in, ski out accommodation in Wengen and you need to do your research as to the location of your accommodation before booking it.

Best for

Best of the best:
Beausite Park  is reputedly the best in town, with great facilities but a poor location.

Quiet:
For a bit of peace and quiet head for Wengener Hof, although don’t expect traditional alpine charm.

Apartments:
The hotel Bernerhof’s decent Residence apartments are well positioned and hotel facilities available to guests.

Brits abroad:
For a British favourite, try ‘Falken’ for a more Fawlty Towers approach!

All-rounder:
Silberhorn is comfortable, modern and central.

Accommodation

Chalets

There are many self catering chalets and apartments dotted all over the village, some of which can be quite a walk up or downhill to get to the pistes or village centre. It is also possible to book a chalet with a full time nanny if required.

Hotels

Wengen has been a ski destination since Edwardian times and the first visitors, mainly British, arrived here in the 19th century, so there are a lot of beautiful old hotels. These are usually best for extra services including babysitting, beauty treatments etc.

Self-catering

There is plenty of self-catering accommodation – mostly chalets, based in and around Wengen.
